BIO:
Mercedes Flores is a Los Angeles based self-taught painter born in Acapulco, Mexico.
Daughter of immigrants had to immigrate from Mexico to Orange County as a teen to avoid violence and growing safety concerns that affected Acapulco, earned a degree in Design and currently specializes in print related design work.
STATEMENT:
My paintings are an amalgamation of imagined and figurative elements that create scenes. A poetic thorough vision of the immigrant woman experience, my heritage and permanent state of yearning.
These compositions and objects reflect on the ways in which these themes and personal experiences intersect. My work features physicality, focus on detail and intense color palettes.
